Nearly everyone adores animals and, at one time or another during our youth, almost all of us have dreamed of one day being a veterinarian.
Sadly, many of those that seriously considered pursuing a career as a veterinarian changed their minds once they saw how much school is necessary for this career path. Becoming a vet tech, on the other hand, may make it possible for those who have long dreamed of working with animals to make their dreams a reality.
In order to become a vet tech, you may not have to go through as much schooling as you do in order to become a veterinarian. In addition, the more you learn about vet techs, the more you will discover that they get to perform many of the same functions as a veterinarian. In fact, as you learn about vet techs, you will find that you get to help the veterinarian in just about every aspect of the job. In most states, the only things you may not be able to do is diagnosis a problem with an animal, prescribe medications, or perform surgeries.
Although you may not make as much money as a vet tech as you would if you were a veterinarian, you can save time and money by having to do less schooling. Additionally, you may not have the same responsibilities on your shoulders as a veterinarian. At the same time, you still get to be around animals and take pleasure in knowing that you are helping them live healthier and happier lives.
