If you want to be able to actually work directly with the animals and to make an impact on their health, you will need to go to school to become a veterinary technician.
When you go to school to become a veterinary technician, you will be able to choose from taking your classes online or at a traditional brick and mortar institution. Each method will help you become a veterinary technician, though you will need to consider your personal learning style and strengths and weaknesses in order to determine which method is best for you.
Regardless of how you decide to become a veterinary technician, you will complete the same type of educational training. When taking your classes in a brick and mortar institution, you will likely conduct several classes in a clinical setting or laboratory that includes the use of live animals. If you take your coursework online, on the other hand, you will likely complete the clinical work at a local participating veterinary clinic.
When you decide to become a veterinary technician, you will be able to complete an associate degree with two years of full time study. If you wish to earn a bachelor's degree, on the other hand, you will need to complete four years of study. If you wish to have a better chance that you will become a veterinary technician within the facility of your choice and if you wish to earn a higher salary, it is best to pursue the four year degree.
